A Lifetime of Public Service.
Stephanie Moon Reynolds retired as Roanoke City Clerk after nearly five decades of dedicated public service to the City of Roanoke. Throughout her career, she worked alongside City Councils, mayors, city managers, constitutional officers, and community leaders, gaining firsthand knowledge of municipal government and the importance of transparent, accountable leadership.
In 2007, Stephanie made history as Roanoke's first African American City Clerk. Her career was defined by integrity, professionalism, and a steadfast commitment to serving both elected officials and the citizens of Roanoke. Those years of experience continue to shape her thoughtful, collaborative approach to public service today.
Community Leadership
Stephanie's commitment to serving others began long before she entered public office. Inspired by the compassion and kindness shown to her throughout her childhood, she made a lifelong commitment to giving back to the community that helped shape her.
Over the years, Stephanie has served in many volunteer and leadership roles, including coaching youth basketball with the Williamson Road Recreation Club, advocating for individuals experiencing homelessness, serving as PTSA President at William Fleming High School, mentoring students pursuing college and career opportunities, and volunteering with numerous civic and nonprofit organizations.
Whether in public service or volunteer leadership, Stephanie has always believed that strong communities are built by neighbors helping neighbors. Her commitment to service continues today through her leadership, advocacy, and dedication to improving the quality of life for all Roanoke residents.
Stephanie Moon Reynolds is the daughter of the late Stevenson Moon and the late Piccola Ann Gilliam. She is the second oldest of five siblings: Cynthia Moon, Cheryl (Marcy) Jones, Stevenson "Bossman" Moon, Jr., and Vincent Moon.
Stephanie and her husband, Earl Reynolds, Jr., are blessed with a loving and blended family of four adult children, four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Family has always been the foundation of Stephanie's life and continues to inspire her commitment to serving others.
Stephanie and Earl are active members of Shiloh Baptist Church in Salem, Virginia, where their faith continues to guide their lives and their commitment to community service. Their English Bulldog, Stella Mae, is also a much-loved member of the family.
